SNEAK PEEK AT WHAT IS IN STORE

What Apex put up on their buiding. Sorry i cudnt get the photo properly, i was in a moving car.
but it says "WE SELL FATCAKES", underneath that they write "not really but we move property so fast it feels like it". something like that. I m going to go back there and take a proper picture. I really love their creativity. GO APEX!!
I saw this one in one of the newspapers, that's why the quality is not that good. Sorry about that, im planning on going the Gabs Sun (where the advert is located) and take a better picture. Wow..do you see the tyre marks on the ground, and the shade that looks like a car crashed into it? that's part of the advert! Cant wait for you guys to see my review on this!

Im sure you guys are already familiar with the "GET TRIMMED"or "ROLA KEPESE" phrase. Yep that's the advert that they used to get men to get circumcised. Apparently the campaign is working. Oh and look at how similar our advert (and by OUR i mean Botswana) is to this other one which was used in some other country. Lacking creativity are we Botswana?... any-way..let me save my comments for my review coming up.

    1. Yah that phrase is very catchy. I was in a combi when i took that photo. the passengers started discussing it. and believe it or not, most of them thought APEX was really a fatcake factory.

As for the advert being attractive, i will have to disagree with you there olerarto. I think its as attractive as it can be. that phrase "we sell fatcakes" is actualy written on the APEX building, along the side of the mainroad. using the APEX colours (navy blue, blue and white). I think sometimes, simple is best. But that's just my opinion.

What do others think? Please help me and Olerarto out here guys. :-)

    2. i agree with you Chawa. I think the fact that they managed to get your attention is enough!

like they said "we move property so fast it feels like it" (like they are moving fatcakes that is... because fatcakes sell out pretty quickly). i think thats enough for a property owner who wants to sell, lease, whatever.. Apex's target market doesnt really care much for pretty colours and nice graphics, they just want to know that their property will be managed by people who find tenants/buyers quickly, who know what they are doing...

chawa please forgive for this but i have to :-D (dont judge me, i have a desease...)

ok, so its like a BMW ad neh... we are talking about serious people here with serious money! big men and women! these adverts are pretty simple, straightforward; its a car being driven, going over sharp bends with obvious ease, simple structures in the background, calm colours, usually no music in the ad... and then..: SHEAR. DRIVING. PLESURE. (or whatever). they dont even say it, they just put the words on the screen... the print ads are pretty much on the same atmosphere, simple, elegant, gadi modumo! classy stuff ;-D

And then we have your cheaper car brands for, say chevy... o tla ja njo akere! usually bright colours and funky music, vibrant city life in the background etc... you know what im talking about mos... u want to get that car and be up about town jaaka bana ba dirata!

why the big difference? target market! chevy's market is young and wants to be cool or whatever, and BMW well, a bit more uppity ;-D

In conclusion (to my long ass essay! haha!). property owners don't care much for the kind of attractiveness i think Olerato is referring to)

    3. thank you for your long ass essay! Look in this blog anything goes. So your long ass comment is very welcome. :-)

And o e opile mo lonakeng. You have to establish your target market first before you go making an advert. And that advert should get the market to relate to it.

But we cant really say APEX is for the, you know, up-market target audience. It also relates to young people who are thinkin of investing in property. Hence the humour in the advert. Humour usually gets the young ones. But yah, i believe it relates to both.

  6. with reference to the APEX ad, ultimately one has to get a second glance at it and read it through. Whether or not its colorful or catchy is irrelevant in my opinion, because at the end of the day, we got the message, laughed a bit and marveled at the genius and in the process learnt that they are in real estate and will care for your property needs. Apex being a real estate company has the challenge of pleasing almost everyone; be it high-end residential, corporate or 1st time homeowners on a limited budget. So its to my understanding that the ad in discussion appeal to this bracket, and it really doesn’t matter what graphics or animation or colors are used, when you want to buy or sell property, you look for someone with a wider market bracket because it increases your chances of a successful and fast transaction. They have a sense of humor. You would want to work with such and be reminded that selling/buying a house doesn’t necessarily have to be a daunting task.

  7. You got that right Phepafatso, APEX have indeed shown us that there is humor is real estate.
